Vampire Scare : Vigilante “Vampire Hunters” Kill Five in Malawi , U.N. Relocates Its Staff

According to reports, the vampire anxieties has left the region on high alert, and has sparked vigilante violence that has led to the death of five people. As a result, the United Nations announced that some of their staff has relocated in the wake of the vampire fright.
Although it remains unclear how many staff members have been relocated, the UN Department of Safety and Security said it would continue to monitor the situation to “ensure all affected UN staff are back in the field as soon as possible.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
According to reports, lynch mobs have murdered at least five people, after accusing them of vampirism. A similar incident linked to vampire rumors sparked in Malawi back in 2002. The return of the scare is believed to have come from neighboring Mozambique, although the reason remains unclear. However, a “temporary suspension of U.N. activities in the area until the situation is normalized,” has been recommended and a night-time curfew has been imposed.
